An official publication by Eurostat and the Statistical Service of Cyprus (CYSTAT) reveals that the Cypriot economy grew by 3.3% in the second quarter of 2026 — more than three times the Eurozone average.

While the Eurozone recorded annual GDP growth of just 1.0% and the EU as a whole grew by 1.2%, Cyprus continues to lead the European economic growth table.

On a quarterly basis, Cyprus also stands out with 0.8% QoQ growth, compared to 0.4% in the Eurozone and 0.5% in the EU.

This performance is particularly notable when compared to the United States, which posted annual growth of 2.1% — well below the Cypriot expansion rate.

This represents an acceleration compared to Q1 2026 (when Cyprus grew by 3.0%) and continues a strong streak of economic expansion: 4.2% in Q4 2025 and 3.5% in Q3 2025.

Primary Key Growth Drivers

  • Wholesale & Retail Trade

  • Information & Communication Technology (ICT)

  • Financial & Insurance Services

  • Construction & Real Estate

These figures highlight the resilience of the Cypriot economy amidst global challenges and regional uncertainties, establishing Cyprus as one of Europe's fastest-growing economies.
